Here in America, if two things are really good, then they must be put together to infuse ultimate awesome-plicity. For example, cake and icecream taste wonderful when separate, but thanks to the ingenuity and pioneering technology of Baskin Robbins, “cake & icecream” is now “Icecream Cake”. Want another? Cell phones and iTunes when combined make for the most glorious communication experience ever (iPhone). So it only stands to reason that when the depth of Christ centered hymns are combined with a grass roots/Americana/folk/blues/indie sound, the impending combination is one of complete enjoyment. Personally, I have found this to be true. Indelible Grace Band is a music project out of Belmont Univeristy in Tennessee. For over 6 years various Independent artists in the Indelible Grace circle (who happen to be Christian) have taken hymns from famous hymn writers such as Newton, Wesley, Luther, Gerhardt, Crosby, and reworked them to a non-contemporary sound which is a mixture of folk, bluegrass, and alternative.

If you don’t like contemporary Christian music which only offers the hollowness of Praise & Worship, but you find yourself tired of the secular, then please let your ears take a peek at the Indelible Grace Band. You will not be dissapointed. Or you can watch some videos I found on youtube of Indelible Grace live.

“Thy Mercy” – Quite possibly my favorite hymn. Derek Webb & Sandra McCracken other arists in the Igrace circle.

“Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Wretched” – A little feedback halfway in, but that is the “live” experience. By the way, key in on the Christ centered lyrics, it’s like hearing the gospel in music format.

“Free Grace” – “Free grace has freed even my will, free grace to the end sustains me still…”

“O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”
