I have been making smart alec remarks about Oprah for years and bemoaned the “Oprahfication” of our culture. But I have never actually feared Oprah until I watched this video. This would be funny if it were not so deadly. God help us all.

There’s an old saying I once heard:
“Never get your theology from a Christian band” and I think we’re going to have to add another line to that jingle: “or an air head work righteous talk show host”.
P.S. Do you find it funny that she despises “doctrine” and yet when she pushes her paganism she herself is pushing “doctrine” (albeit foul).

She says she moved away from (what we would define as) Christianity when she was told that God was a jealous God. “Jealous of me?” So her loss of faith was based on not realizing that “Jealous” means “don’t want to share,” instead thinking that it means “wishes he could do his hair like she does.”
She also says she has moved beyond doctrine. I suppose she means “Christian doctrine,” but as doctrine is a set of beliefs, I suppose she’s saying “I’ve moved beyond belief.” Which I find true. And sadly horrifying.

Telling for me was her shout down of the Christian woman in her audience.

Yeah, what’s sad is that most of our church members can’t even distinguish Oprah-spirituality and Christianity…much less distinguish law and gospel…
